Tamilnadu Postal Circle - AADHAAR

The Department of Posts has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Unique identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to become a Registrar for enrolment process for issue of UID cards (Aadhaar cards). UIDAI’s mandate is to issue every resident a unique identification number linked to the resident's demographic and biometric information, which they can use to identify themselves anywhere in India, and to access a host of benefits and services. With Aadhaar, a resident will be able to prove his identity for various purposes like opening bank account, availing health services, getting mobile connection etc. Enrolment process by the Department of Posts has commenced in many states in the country. Tamil Nadu Postal Circle, which covers both Tamil Nadu State and Pondicherry UT, has proposed to commence the enrolment in Tamil Nadu. Enrolment of residents for Aadhaar cards will be launched at Anna Road Head Post Office, Chennai 600002 on 25/10/2011 and at General Post Office

UID Aadhaar Cards Enrollment in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry

The process of issue of Aadhaar Unique Identity Cards (UID) has begun in Tamil Nadu during January 2011. The Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension and Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy has launched the prestigious project of Aadhaar enrollment with much fanfare. The project has also been launched in Pondicherry Union Territory. The UID Aadhaar Card is set to be integrated with Smart Cards to be rolled out by the government for Public Distribution Systems in Pondicherry / Puducherry. The ration cards will be replaced by UID cards. Pondicherry was the first in the country to link a major public service like PDS with the Aadhaar UID Cards. The Aadhar issue process in Puducherry will be implemented in three phases. The first phase would be a two week pilot phase at Pillaichavadi. Kerala Veterinary Varsity (KVASU) VC sacked

Kochi, Oct 21,2011 : Dr. B Ashok, the first Vice Chancellor of Kerala's first veterinary University (Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University - KVASU) has been sacked by the Kerala government today. A decision to this effect was taken at the cabinet meeting today, The charge of the Vice Chancellor has been given to K Jayakumar, Additional Chief Secretary and the Agricultural Production Commissioner. It is mentioned in the order that Dr.Ashok has written something against the present Chief Secretary in an article in one of the Malayalam dailies and that is reason for his removal.
