Kerala Veterinary Varsity (KVASU) VC sacked

Kochi, Oct 21,2011 : Dr. B Ashok, the first Vice Chancellor of Kerala's first veterinary University (Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University - KVASU) has been sacked by the Kerala government today. A decision to this effect was taken at the cabinet meeting today, The charge of the Vice Chancellor has been given to K Jayakumar, Additional Chief Secretary and the Agricultural Production Commissioner. It is mentioned in the order that Dr.Ashok has written something against the present Chief Secretary in an article in one of the Malayalam dailies and that is reason for his removal. Dr. Ashok, now in Bangalore will arrive at the capital within a couple of days.
An IAS officer of the 1998 batch Dr. Ashok is a graduate in Veterinary Science from Mannuthy (1990 batch). He was previously Private Secretary (Chief of Staff ) of Union Minister for Agriculture and Food K V Thomas and Deputy Director and Course Director in the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. Dr Ashok has a Postgraduate degree in International Politics from Italy. He was awarded a research fellowship from Maastricht University, Netherlands and has also been trained in the Tata Management School, London University as well as the Duke University, USA in Management.
He has been in the IAS from 1998 and was posted as Sub-Collector in Kollam, Project Director Jalanidhi, Director Animal Husbandry and District Collector Pathanamthitta in Kerala.
